Eduardo Zaplana was appointed to the Telefónica Europe plc Board in July 2008.

Formerly, the Minister for Labour and Social Affairs and spokesman for the Spanish Government, Mr. Zaplana has also held the role of First Vice President of the Committee of the Regions within the European Union and President of the Commission for Transportation and Communication Networks.

Mr. Zaplana was also President of the Commission for Regional Politics, Structural Funds, Social and Economic Cohesion, as well as, Transborder and Interregional Cooperation.
