Munich. Markus Haas (37) will be appointed to the management of Telefónica O2 Germany effective 1 May 2009. By creating this division, Telefónica O2 Germany places an emphasis on the strong corporate governance function within the company. The business units legal affairs, regulatory affairs and lobbying, audit and control, data protection, compliance and roaming services will report to the new division.
“The significance of the areas of responsibility regulatory affairs, legal affairs and data protection to our business has grown,” says Jaime Smith, the CEO of Telefónica O2 Germany. “Markus Haas looks back on many years of experience in these fields and will now represent these responsibilities on the management board.”
The 37-year-old fully qualified lawyer has been employed with the company since 1998 and has held various leadership roles in legal affairs and regulatory affairs since 2002. Among other things, he represented the company in terms of content in the political arena as well as during the regulatory and frequency allocation procedures.
Telefónica O2 Germany GmbH & Co. OHG is a subsidiary of Telefónica Europe and part of the Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica S.A.
