Company objective achieved ahead of schedule
The mobile phone provider Fonic today announced it has signed up one million customers, 18 months ahead of target. When Fonic first entered the market two years ago, the company projected that it would reach the one million mark at the end of 2010. "We continue to grow faster than the market. The fact that we were successful in achieving our goal in half the time than we originally expected speaks for our approach," said Holger Feistel, Managing Director of Finance & Operations at Fonic.
Fonic set out to make mobile telephony even easier and less expensive in September of 2007. The Munich-based company has been extremely successful with its approach from the very start: "The market is calling for simple rate structures and freedom from contracts. A low price per SMS and minute for all nets, convenient payment by direct debit as with postpaid rates – this was exactly the right offer at just the right time," says Feistel. He considers the fact that so many other companies are attempting to imitate the Fonic approach today to be a compliment: "This is the highest form of respect that the competition could possibly show us."
Its recipe for success "inexpensive, simple, fair" has characterised the company's way of doing business ever since then. For instance, the company recently entered into the "phone calls to abroad" business and expanded its 9-cent rate for calls to the fixed phone network in Europe, the Americas and Canada. As usual, Fonic automatically passed on this price reduction to all of its existing customers.
Research also shows that customers have been rewarding this philosophy and are extremely satisfied with Fonic. "Reason enough for us to stick to this positioning and focus our future portfolio on it. After all, our customers are the main reason why Fonic continues to experience such strong growth," adds Thomas Heise, Managing Director Sales and Marketing. Our employees are not the only ones who have good reason to be happy. "We know who we owe this success to. This is why we plan to share this with all of our customers," Heise announced. Fonic will be releasing the details in due course.
